Srinagar– Security forces on Tuesday arrested five persons in separate operations in south Kashmir’s Shopian and Pulwama districts and recovered hand grenades, a pistol, ammunition and posters allegedly bearing Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) markings, officials said.
In Shopian, security forces arrested three persons during a naka-checking operation and recovered two hand grenades and five posters allegedly bearing HM markings.
An official identified the arrested persons as Junaid Ahmad Dar, Amir Yousif and Junaid Muzaffer, all residents of Kulgam. The trio was apprehended along with a motorcycle during the checking operation.
Meanwhile, in Pulwama, two suspected terror associates were arrested during a joint operation in the Yarwan forest area of CB Nath in Rajpora.
The operation was launched by Pulwama Police in coordination with the Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles and 183 Battalion CRPF following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of suspected terror associates.
The security teams intercepted two persons who were moving towards CB Nath village from the forest area. They were identified as Latif Ahmad Deedad, a resident of Lassi Daban, and Aejaz Ahmad Bajad, a resident of Bun Kha Bamnoo.
A pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition and a hand grenade were recovered from their possession, officials said.
A case under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act has been registered at Police Station Rajpora, while further investigation is underway.
The recoveries from both operations have been taken into custody and further investigation is in progress.
