3 Men Slip Into Jhelum in Hajin; 2 Feared Drowned, 1 Rescued

Srinagar- Two persons are feared drowned while another one was rescued after three men slipped into the Jhelum river in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday, officials said.

An official said that the incident occurred when the trio was washing their tents on the banks of the river

He said one of them accidentally slipped into the river while the two others jumped into the water in an attempt to rescue him but were swept away by the strong current.

“One person was rescued by locals and shifted to a nearby health facility, while two others remain missing,” he said, as per news agency KNO.

Rescue teams, including police and local volunteers, have launched a search operation to trace the missing persons. The identities of the victims are yet to be ascertained.
