Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir cabinet on Friday discussed the implementation of 200 units of free electricity for Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families and also approved the reorganisation of the Jal Shakti Department, sources disclosed.
Sources said that the cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, deliberated on the modalities for providing 200 units of free electricity to AAY beneficiaries in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources, discrepancies were found in the data of AAY families maintained by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and the Power Development Department.
โThere was variation in the data of AAY families between the two departments. The data of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department will be considered for implementation of the scheme,โ sources said.
The proposed free electricity benefit is expected to be provided to eligible AAY households every month under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG-MBY).
Sources further said that the cabinet also approved the proposal regarding the reorganisation of the Jal Shakti Department.
However, no official statement had been issued by the government till the filing of this report.(KNO)
