Srinagar- The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir has filed a chargesheet before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar in connection with an alleged land fraud case involving the sale of the same parcel of land to multiple buyers.
According to an official statement, the chargesheet has been filed in FIR No. 03/2024 under Sections 420, 468, 167 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) against three accused persons for their alleged involvement in the fraud.
The case pertains to the purported fraudulent sale of a land parcel located at Khushipora, HMT Srinagar, to several purchasers through separate registered sale deeds.
During the investigation, EOW Kashmir found that accused Mehraj-ud-Din Khanday S/o Ghulam Ahmad Khanday and Shabir Ahmad Khanday S/o Ghulam Ahmad Khanday, both residents of Khushipora Abanshah, Srinagar, allegedly conspired with a former Patwari, who has since passed away, to execute multiple sale deeds for the same piece of land.
The investigation further revealed that the accused allegedly used fabricated and manipulated revenue records to mislead buyers and obtain unlawful financial gains. Following the completion of the investigation, the chargesheet was submitted before the court for judicial determination.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch advised the public to remain vigilant against economic frauds and report such incidents to the Senior Superintendent of Police, EOW Srinagar. Victims of economic fraud can also lodge complaints through the official email of the Economic Offences Wing ([email protected]), the statement said.
