Srinagar- The High Court of J&K and Ladakh has designated 15 advocates as Senior Advocates under Section 16(2) of the Advocates Act, 1961, in recognition of their standing, experience, and contribution to the legal profession.
The designation takes effect from May 22 subject to the provisions of the Advocates Act and the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Designation of Senior Advocates) Rules, 2025.
According to an order issued by Registrar General M.K. Sharma, the advocates designated as Senior Advocates are: Arifa Jan, Ajay K. Gandotra, Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, Rozina Afzal, Pran Nath Bhat, Abdul Rashid Malik, Monika Kohli, Adarsh Kumar Sharma, Mandeep Reen, Pawan Kumar (Kundal), Radha Sharma, Ajay Pal Singh, Anshuja Sharma Tak, Manzoor Ali, and Vikas Mangotra.
The order states that the designation has been conferred by the High Court in exercise of its statutory powers and will be governed by the terms and conditions laid down under the relevant legal provisions and rules.
Copies of the order have been forwarded to the Secretary General of the Supreme Court of India, Registrar Generals of various High Courts, the Bar Council of India, State Bar Councils, the Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, bar associations, and other judicial authorities for information and compliance.
The notification has also been sent for publication in the Government Gazette and leading newspapers across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
