J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Reviews Management of Amarnath Yatra 2026

Srinagar – Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday reviewed the overall management of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and appealed to pilgrims to undertake the pilgrimage only after obtaining a valid registration, saying a large influx of unregistered devotees was causing delays and inconvenience.

Chairing a high-level meeting attended by senior civil, police, security and Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board officials, Sinha assessed the movement of pilgrims, traffic management, security arrangements, accommodation, registration status and other logistical aspects to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the annual pilgrimage.

During the meeting, officials informed the Lieutenant Governor that an unusually large number of pilgrims had been arriving in Jammu and Kashmir without valid registration, resulting in longer waiting times for devotees.

Sinha stressed that the yatra was being conducted in accordance with the prescribed ceiling on pilgrim movement along the tracks to the holy cave shrine, in compliance with directions of the Supreme Court. He said strict adherence to the registration schedule was essential to ensure the safety, security and convenience of all pilgrims.

He reiterated that only pilgrims possessing valid registration for the designated date would be allowed to proceed on the tracks leading to the holy cave shrine.

Appealing to intending pilgrims who have not yet registered, the Lieutenant Governor urged them to defer their travel for the next few days to avoid inconvenience on reaching Jammu and Kashmir.

The administration has advised all intending pilgrims to complete the mandatory registration process and obtain a valid Yatra Registration Permit for their allotted date before commencing their journey. It warned that pilgrims travelling without confirmed registration would not be permitted to undertake the yatra.

The Lieutenant Governor also reviewed the security and logistical arrangements and directed all departments and security agencies to work in close coordination while maintaining constant liaison with langar organisations, service providers and other stakeholders to ensure a safe, seamless and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage.
