Srinagar- A CRPF jawan allegedly died by suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, officials said.

The CRPF trooper was identified as Y Chandra Reddy, a resident of Andhra Pradesh.

Reddy, posted at CRPF’s 18th Battalion-F Coy, in the south Kashmir district, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle, the officials said.

It was not known as to what prompted the CRPF trooper to take the extreme step, they added.
