Srinagar- PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday expressed regret over her remarks at a protest at Jantar Mantar, saying she had intended to say “Bahana Banta Hain” but inadvertently uttered only “Banta Hain”.
Addressing reporters here, the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister clarified that the remarks were made during the protest and expressed regret over the controversy surrounding them.
“I gave bytes to a lot of people there. In one byte I said there is militancy and intended to say ‘Bahana Banta Hain,’ but I could not utter the word ‘Bahana’ due to hurriedness. I thought I had said that,” she said.
Mufti also said the video of her remarks circulating on social media was authentic.
“I wouldn’t say that video is fake; it is genuine,” she said.
