GI Exhibition-cum-Sale Concludes in Srinagar, Promotes J&K’s Traditional Crafts
Srinagar: A five-day GI Exhibition-cum-Sale showcasing the rich traditional crafts of Jammu and Kashmir concluded at Ghat No. 9, Dalgate, Srinagar, with a focus on promoting local artisans and GI-tagged handicrafts.
The exhibition was sponsored by The Tahafuz Society, the GI proprietor of six crafts of Jammu and Kashmir, in collaboration with The Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited. The event provided artisans with a platform to showcase and sell their traditional GI-tagged products while creating greater awareness about the region’s rich handicraft heritage.
The concluding ceremony was attended by Chief Guest Tanvir Sadiq, along with renowned Kashmiri broadcaster and media professional Talha Jehangir.
During the closing ceremony, certificates and cash prizes were distributed among participating artisans in recognition of their contribution and participation in the five-day exhibition.
The organisers said the initiative aimed to strengthen the visibility of Jammu and Kashmir’s traditional crafts, support local artisans, and encourage greater public appreciation and demand for GI-tagged products.
The exhibition also highlighted the importance of preserving the region’s traditional craftsmanship and providing artisans with sustainable opportunities to promote their products in local and wider markets.
