Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience widespread rainfall and thunderstorms over the next two days, with weather activity expected to gradually ease from September 2, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The Meteorological Centre, Srinagar, in its latest bulletin, forecast fairly widespread rain in Kashmir and widespread rain in Jammu on Sunday, while widespread light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected across both divisions on September 1.
The weather office has also warned of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph in Kashmir on August 31 and September 1.

Meanwhile, temperatures have remained above normal across much of J&K. Maximum temperatures were 3-5 degrees Celsius above normal at many places in Kashmir and 1-2 degrees above normal in Jammu during the past 24 hours.
Kupwara recorded the highest maximum temperature in Kashmir at 34.2 degrees Celsius, while Kathua recorded 35.4 degrees Celsius in Jammu.
Night temperatures also remained above normal, with minimum temperatures 2-5 degrees Celsius above normal at many places in Kashmir and 1-4 degrees above normal in Jammu.
Gulmarg recorded the lowest minimum temperature in Kashmir at 14 degrees Celsius, while Bhaderwah recorded 18 degrees Celsius in Jammu.
Kathua AWS recorded the highest rainfall of 23 mm during the preceding period.
For Sunday, the IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies with light rain or thunderstorms in Srinagar, with the maximum temperature expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 22 degrees Celsius.
Jammu is likely to receive light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, with temperatures expected to remain around 34 degrees Celsius during the day and 28 degrees Celsius at night.
The IMD has advised people to remain alert and keep themselves updated about weather developments, particularly in areas vulnerable to landslides, mudslides and flash floods.
