Srinagar, September 6: Traffic Police Srinagar has issued a traffic advisory for September 7 in view of the inauguration of the International Film Festival at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).
SSP Traffic Srinagar City, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, said preparations for the four-day festival are underway and the inauguration ceremony is scheduled for September 7 evening. A large number of participants, guests and invitees are expected to attend, leading to a significant rush of vehicles towards SKICC after 4 PM.
To ensure smooth traffic movement and minimise inconvenience to the public, the following restrictions and diversions will remain in place:
- Gupkar Road: No general traffic will be allowed between 4 PM and 7 PM. Only invitees, participants, VVIPs and staff associated with the event will be permitted to use the road.
- Badyari Chowk/Brein Chowk: Traffic heading towards SKICC–Nehru Park will be restricted, except for hotel guests and local residents. Other traffic heading towards Nishat will be diverted via Gupkar and Hazratbal.
- Nishat/Harwan side: Traffic coming from Nishat and Harwan will also be diverted towards Hazratbal.
The advisory will remain in force from 4 PM to 7 PM on September 7, or until the inauguration ceremony is completed.
The officer said the International Film Festival will continue for four days. A similar traffic advisory is expected to be issued for the closing ceremony on September 10 evening.
