Srinagar- A mega plantation drive under the “Green Campus for Clean Air” initiative was held at Amar Singh College, marking a major push toward environmental sustainability in Kashmir’s educational institutions.

Organised by PARAS Health Srinagar in collaboration with Kashmir Concern, the event brought together academicians, medicos, environmentalists and students to promote cleaner air and healthier living.

The programme was inaugurated by college principal Prof. Ajaz Hakak along with key figures including Dr. Murtuza Habib from Paras Health, Saleem Beg, and other experts from healthcare, academia, and civil society.

Speakers highlighted the strong link between environmental protection and public health, stressing that increasing green cover can help combat rising respiratory illnesses and improve overall quality of life.

Organisers also outlined plans to expand the campaign across Kashmir by developing green campuses, promoting native plantations, improving waste management, and engaging youth as “Green Ambassadors.”

The drive concluded with the plantation of hundreds of native saplings—including fruit-bearing and ornamental trees—across the college campus, with active participation from students and volunteers.
