Srinagar, Apr 6: Prasar Bharati has appointed Talha Jahangir Rahmani as the Programme Head of Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar with immediate effect, according to an official order issued here.
Rahmani, who is currently serving as a Programme Executive at the Srinagar station, has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of leading programming and content operations at the regional broadcaster.
As per the details available with The Freelancers the appointment has been approved by the Directorate General of Doordarshan through Office Order No. 15/2026/S-III dated April 6, 2026.
As per the order, Talha Jahangir Rahmani will function as Programme Head at Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar until further orders. Notably, the move is seen as part of routine administrative arrangements within the public broadcasting network.
Doordarshan, which operates under Prasar Bharati, plays a significant role in broadcasting news, cultural programmes, and regional content across Jammu and Kashmir.
DD Srinagar, in particular, remains an important platform for local programming and public service communication in the region.Officials also said the role of Programme Head involves overseeing programme planning, scheduling and maintaining content standards, while also ensuring that programming reflects local culture, language, and public interest issues.
Similarly, Rahmani is considered an experienced hand within the organisation, with familiarity in broadcast operations and programme management.—
