Srinagar, April 18: Srinagar Police started a T20 knockout cricket tournament at Sri Pratap College Ground under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025–26 to engage youth in positive activities and build better police-public relations.

A total of 16 teams from across Srinagar district are taking part in the tournament. The event gives young players a chance to show their talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship while promoting unity and healthy competition.

The tournament was inaugurated by SSP Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy. Several senior officers, including SP Headquarters Shah Umar, SP East Neha Jain, DySP Headquarters Syed Sleet Shah, and DySP DAR Nazir Ahmad, were also present on the occasion.

During the event, police officers interacted with the players and encouraged them to take part in sports. They said sports help in building discipline, fitness, and confidence, and also guide youth away from social issues like drug abuse and crime.

Srinagar Police said it will continue such initiatives under CAP to support youth and promote positive community engagement.
