Srinagar, April 23: Vice Chancellor Cluster University of Srinagar (CUS), Prof. Dr Mohammad Mobin today inaugurated Craft Shala- skill development course under the aegis of Cluster University of Srinagar in collaboration with Handicrafts & Carpet Sector Skill Council-Ministry of Skil Development & Entrepreneurship GOI, today at the university campus, aiming to promote skill development and preserving traditional crafts.
The ceremony was attended by Registrar Prof. Dr. Wilayat Hussain Rizvi, Controller Examinations Prof Khurshid Ahmad Mir, Dean Sciences Prof. Dr.Nighat Nasreen, Dean Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Javid Ahmed Bhat and Dean Liberal Arts and Humanities Prof. Dr. Tahira Sayed, along with Assistant Professors, aspiring students, and other concerned officials.
VC Prof. Mobin interacted with the students and encouraged them to actively engage in skill-based learning opportunities.The Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of integrating traditional craftsmanship with modern training frameworks to enhance employability and sustain cultural heritage.
He underlined the need that students should equip with necessary skill set and craftsmanship in parallel with their academics.
Prof Mobin said the university is committed in providing academic environment to the students which will help them to sustain the challenges of industry in future and to make them global citizens.
Controller Examinations, Prof. Khurshid Ahmad Mir highlighted the significance of skill-oriented programmes in complementing academic learning and preparing students for practical challenges.
He added that more students should enroll for such creative endeavours.The initiative has been launched in collaboration with Technogate Educare Skills, focusing on providing hands-on training and capacity-building opportunities to students. The Craft Shala is expected to serve as a platform for nurturing talent and strengthening the region’s rich handicraft legacy.
