Srinagar- As many as 172 government posts in various departments of Jammu and Kashmir are pending due to clarifications, court cases, non-availability of syllabi and other departmental issues, according to details contained in an official document.
The data, accessed reveals that the Higher Education Department accounts for 92 of the pending posts, including 88 Assistant Professor positions in various disciplines for which clarification is awaited from the department.
Written examinations for 52 of these Assistant Professor posts have already been conducted, the document states.
Besides, two posts of Assistant Professor in Biotechnology Engineering and two posts of Assistant Professor in Food Engineering and Technology are pending due to the non-availability of the requisite syllabus.
The Health and Medical Education Department has also reported several posts awaiting resolution. These include one post of Junior Medical Physicist, which is pending due to the non-availability of the syllabus.
Five posts of District Sericulture Officer in the Agriculture Production Department are pending as the matter is sub judice.
In the Health and Medical Education Department, 35 posts of Assistant Professor (Unani/Ayurveda), two posts of Assistant Commissioner Food Safety and 10 posts of Assistant Professor Nursing are pending due to court-related issues.
In addition, seven posts relating to the 500-bedded Paediatrics Hospital at Bemina have been kept on hold by the department.
Another 20 posts of Tutor, Lecturer, Andrologist, Gynaecologist and Clinical Embryologist are awaiting clarification from the concerned department.
The document puts the overall number of government posts pending due to clarifications, court cases and other related issues at 172.
JKPSC Leaves 111 of 1,263 Posts Without Selections in 2025-26

The Commission also conducted 29 Departmental Promotion Committee meetings and cleared 508 officers for promotion.
Three departmental examinations were conducted during the year, with 813 candidates appearing, according to the report.
The Commission has highlighted a series of recruitment reforms in the report, including 100 per cent written-examination-based recruitment, on-screen evaluation and SMS-based communication with candidates.
