Srinagar, Apr 22 (TF): School vans ferrying students across Srinagar have increasingly become a concern for traffic authorities due to rising safety issues and congestion on city roads. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Srinagar, Bhat Ajaz, said that many of these vans are operating without proper regulation, often overcrowded and lacking basic safety measures, putting children at risk.

The SSP said that the Traffic Police have been monitoring the situation closely and have received several complaints from parents and the public regarding rash driving and overloading by van operators. He added that such practices not only endanger students but also lead to traffic disruptions, particularly during peak school hours in busy parts of the city.

To tackle the issue, authorities have decided to phase out these school vans in a gradual manner and promote safer, regulated transportation options. Bhat Ajaz assured that the process will be implemented carefully to avoid inconvenience to students and parents, while ensuring improved safety and smoother traffic flow in Srinagar.
