Srinagar: Senior academic and media scholar Professor Sabeha Mufti has taken charge as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Kashmir.

Prof. Mufti, who currently serves as the Head of the Media Education Research Centre (MERC), is known for her extensive work in media research, communication studies, and media sociology. She holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication and Journalism from Jamia Millia Islamia and an M.Phil from the University of Kashmir.

Over the years, she has published several research papers in reputed journals and has guided numerous M.Phil and Ph.D scholars. Her academic work has largely focused on media representation, women and media, audience studies, and contemporary communication research.

Academics and scholars have welcomed her appointment, expressing hope that her leadership will further strengthen research and academic development within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Kashmir.
