Srinagar18-April: Cluster University of Srinagar (CUS), in collaboration with J&K Police, organized an Orientation Programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at its main campus.
The programme witnessed participation of faculty from the university and all NMBA coordinators and NSS programme officers from all the constituent & affiliated colleges of Cluster University of Srinagar along with experts and counsellors from Youth development & rehabilitation centre, J&K police, Srinagar.
The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Mobin as the Chief Guest. The Registrar of the university Syed Wilayat Hussain Rizvi, Controller of Examination Prof.(Dr.) Khursheed Ahmed Mir, Nodal Officer NMBA and other officials were also present on the occasion.In his address, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Mobin emphasized that substance abuse is a serious threat to youth and society.
He stressed that universities must take a proactive role in ensuring drug-free campuses and called upon all stakeholders to work with commitment and accountability.
VC Prof. Mobin further highlighted that the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor J&K is personally monitoring this campaign, reflecting its importance.Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Syed Wilayat Hussain Rizvi briefly highlighted the need for collective institutional responsibility and stressed that awareness must translate into concrete action at the grassroots level.
Controller of Examinations Prof. (Dr.) Khursheed Ahmed Mir emphasized discipline, continuous awareness, student engagement and research analyses for collecting data as key to preventing substance abuse.It is pertinent to mention here that Cluster University along with constituent & affiliated colleges have performed commendably in NMBA activities over the past year, while emphasizing the need for further strengthening these efforts.
The expert session by Dr. Mohd. Muzaffar khan, Director Youth Development & rehabilitation centre along with two counsellors, provided valuable insights, practical strategies, and interactive demonstrations on addressing substance abuse.
Muzaffar Khan explained about the root causes of substance abuse, its psychological and social impact, and emphasized early intervention and community support. His session engaged participants and offered realistic strategies for prevention and rehabilitation.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, reaffirming the collective commitment of the University towards making campuses drug-free and contributing to the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.The Program Proceedings were conducted by Dr Uzma Shafi Assistant Professor English.
