Srinagar: Srinagar witnessed a massive tourist rush today at the famous , Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden but despite the heavy inflow of visitors, traffic movement remained largely smooth throughout the day. Many locals and tourists appreciated the efforts of the traffic police, sharing positive feedback with The Freelancer’s.
From early morning, a large number of vehicles were seen heading towards the garden, leading to expected pressure on nearby roads. However, timely planning and active deployment of traffic personnel helped in managing the situation effectively. Traffic diversions, proper guidance, and controlled entry points played a key role in avoiding major congestion.
SSP Traffic Srinagar Bhat Ajaz said that the department had already anticipated the rush. “We had put a proper plan in place keeping in mind the high tourist inflow. Our teams were deployed at all important locations, and we ensured smooth movement despite limited road space and parking challenges,” he told The Freelancer’s.
He further added, “Public cooperation was very helpful. People followed instructions, which made our job easier. We will continue to improve arrangements in the coming days as well.”
Local residents also spoke positively about the management. Imran Ahmad, a shopkeeper near the area, said, “There was a huge rush, but traffic was handled very well. We did not face the kind of problems we usually expect on such busy days.”
Visitors too shared similar views. Neha Sharma, a tourist from Delhi, said, “We thought we would be stuck in traffic for hours, but everything was well managed. The police were guiding vehicles properly, and it made our visit comfortable.”
Abdul Rashid, a taxi driver, said, “Even with so many vehicles, the situation was under control. Traffic police were present everywhere and helping drivers move without confusion.”
Overall, the traffic management during the peak rush received appreciation from all sections. Despite challenges like limited infrastructure and shortage of parking space, the coordinated efforts of the traffic department ensured a hassle-free experience for visitors, as many told The Freelancer’s.
