Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir is likely to receive more rainfall over the next week, with the Meteorological Centre here warning of possible flash floods, landslides and mudslides in vulnerable areas, officials said on Wednesday.
Samba recorded the highest rainfall in the Union Territory during the past 24 hours at 87 mm, followed by Katra at 71.2 mm, Udhampur at 65 mm and Jammu at 52 mm, the MeT said.
From July 29 to 31, most places are likely to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers, with brief intense heavy showers and torrential rain possible at a few places in the Jammu division, generally during morning and late afternoon to evening hours, it said.
Some areas in Kashmir may also receive brief spells of intense showers during the period, according to the forecast.
The MeT has forecast one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places on August 1 and 2, with brief intense showers at isolated places.
From August 3 to 5, many places are likely to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers, while a few districts of Jammu division may experience heavy rain, intense showers and torrential rainfall.
The weather department has warned that torrential rain and brief intense showers could trigger flash floods, landslides and mudslides at vulnerable locations between July 29 and August 2.
The general public, tourists, travellers and transporters have been advised to follow administrative advisories and avoid water bodies and landslide-prone areas, officials said.
